Check-In

Check-in confirms who's actually present and ready before a round or competition starts, so you don't pair or seat players who never showed. It's optional and off by default — enable it per competition under Settings → Check-In.

Modes

Pick the model that fits how your event runs:

| Mode | When to use | | ------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Scheduled | A check-in window opens a set time before each round and closes shortly before it starts. | | Gate | A single check-in gates entry to the competition (e.g. confirm attendance before the event begins). | | Rolling | A recurring daily window (for ongoing leagues) — players confirm availability on a set day and time. |

Window timing

For scheduled and gate modes you control the window relative to start time:

  • Opens — how many minutes before start the window opens.
  • Closes — how many minutes before start it closes.
  • Grace period — extra minutes after the close before a player counts as a no-show.

Rolling mode instead uses a days-before and a time-of-day for its recurring window.

No-show handling

When a player misses their check-in window, choose what happens automatically:

| Action | Result | | --------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Remove & backfill | Drop the no-show and promote a waitlisted player into the slot. | | Demote | Move the no-show down (e.g. to the waitlist) without removing them outright. | | Hold | Take no automatic action — flag them for you to handle manually. |

Reminders

Players are reminded as their window approaches. You can independently toggle:

  • On open — when the check-in window opens.
  • Warning — a mid-window nudge before it closes.
  • Final call — a last reminder just before close.

These are check-in–critical and reach players regardless of competition notification settings (their own channel preferences still apply). See Notifications & Nudges for the broader notification model.

Checking players in

Depending on your setup, players check themselves in from the competition page, or you check them in manually from the manage view. Once the window closes, your configured no-show action runs and the round can proceed with a confirmed field.
