Joining a Team League
Every way into a team-league season starts in the same place: the season's own page. While registration is open, the page shows a registration card that asks How are you taking part? Pick one answer and submit. You need to be signed in to see the choices.
The ways in
You'll see the choices that fit you, so you won't see all five at once: Play for your team only appears if you're already a member of a team in the season, and then it replaces Join a team in this season. A choice that applies to you but can't be used right now stays on the card, greyed out, with the reason written underneath. If you're signed out, the card shows Sign in to register.
| Choice | Who it's for | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Play for your team | You're already a member of a team entered in this season. | You're registered for that team. Its captain gives you a board. No request needed. |
| Enter a team I captain | You own or captain a team that isn't in this season yet. | Your team is entered. If the season requires approval, the entry waits for the organizer. |
| Start a new team | You want to found a team. Just type its name. | The team is created, you own it, and it's entered the same way. |
| Join a team in this season | You want to play for a team that has entered but you're not on yet. | You send a request to that team's captain, who decides. |
| Join as a free agent | You want to play but don't have a team. | You go into the free agent pool, and an organizer places you on a team that needs players. |
Whichever you choose, you're also registered as a player for the season, and any registration questions, rules or Discord requirements the season has are asked on the same card.
Approval. Some seasons have the organizer approve every registration. In those, your entry (and your team's) shows Pending Approval until they do, and a captain can't put a player into a lineup while that player's entry is still pending. In seasons without approval, entries are confirmed straight away. If the season has a participant cap and it's full, new entries go on the waitlist instead.
Your team isn't listed?
Below the choices there may be a link: Your team isn't listed? Request to captain an existing team. It lists the organization's teams that have no captain at the moment, such as a club from an earlier league that nobody runs yet. Pick yours and the organization's staff decide. If they approve, you captain the team (and own it, if it had no owner) and can enter it.
While you wait, you can still register as a free agent.
Put me on my team's roster
When you enter or start a team, the card offers Put me on my team's roster, ticked by default, with your board (1, 2 or 3) and Main or Sub. Leave it ticked to play for your own team. If the entry is waiting for the organizer's approval, your seat applies the moment they approve it. A captain choosing Play for their team just picks the board and Main or Sub; there's nothing to untick.
If you only run the team and won't play, untick it.
Asking to join a team
Choose Join a team in this season, pick the team and press Send request. The list shows each team's roster size, and teams whose entry the organizer hasn't approved yet are marked entry pending. You can ask those too.
- The captain decides, or, if the team has no captain, the organizer. There's no separate approval step on top.
- One request at a time per season. To ask a different team, withdraw your request first.
- Accepted: you become a member of the team, not just for this season but until you leave it, and you join its season roster. If the team's entry is still pending, you join the roster when the organizer approves it. Your captain sets your board. Next season you'll see Play for your team straight away.
- Declined: you're told, and you stay registered for the season. Ask another team, or stay in the free agent pool.
After you register
The registration card turns into up to two status cards, side by side. The one with something for you to do comes first.
- Your registration: your status (for example Confirmed or Pending Approval), which team you're on or waiting for, your board, and any request you're waiting on. Every waiting request has a Withdraw request button.
- Your team, one for each team you captain, under the team's name and badge. Its first line says where things stand, for example Your team · entry pending · 4 on the roster · 1 join request. It has Manage team and, when players have asked to join, Review N join requests. A team you captain that isn't entered yet shows Enter team name instead, or the reason it can't be entered.
If you're registered but not on your own team's roster (you left the box unticked, or your captain took you off it), Your registration says so and offers Play for your team to get back on.
While registration is open you can press Change how you're taking part and choose again. Your registration moves with you rather than being duplicated.
To leave the season altogether, press Withdraw registration. Any request you had waiting closes with it. Once the season is under way, a confirmed player's button becomes Request withdrawal instead, and the organizer decides; see Leaving a Competition. Either way, you can't leave while you're named in a submitted lineup for a fixture in the open round, until the organizer lifts that lock.
The rules
- One team per season. You can only play for one team in a given season. Across seasons you can play for whoever you like.
- A captain plays for their own team. Once a team you captain is in the season, you can't also be a free agent or ask to join another team. If you registered as a free agent first and then enter your own team, that registration is reused for your team, not duplicated.
- One team per captain per season. If you captain two teams, only one of them can enter a given season.
- Once you're on a roster, the card is done. It won't move you to another team. Talk to your captain or the organizer.
- Join requests close when the fixtures are published. From then on nobody can ask to join, and any request still waiting is closed. A captain can still invite you to the team itself, but if you aren't registered for the season yet and it no longer takes new entrants, the organizer has to add you to it.
- Invitation-only seasons show the card only to players the organizer has invited.
